    Seminar on “How to Start Your Own Startup”

    The Student Startup Business Center (SSBC) of COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus arranged a seminar “How to Start Your Own Startup” on October 20, 2022. Mr. Azad Chaiwala, a successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker was the resource person. On behalf of In-charge SSBC, Assistant Professor, Mr. Fasih ur Rehman from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Lecturer, Dr. Hammad Salahuddin from the Department of Civil Engineering welcomed the guest.

    The seminar was organized under the vision of worthy Director Campus, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, T.I., aiming to sharpen the thinking of student that how they start their own business and become a successful self – employed entrepreneur.

    Mr. Azad in his speech emphasized the students to become useful and earning members of the society instead of just being consumers or beneficiaries of the income of their parents. He boosted the morale of the students. The speaker in his talk shared his life experiences and how he faces the challenges of life and setting him up, got success, and now become a successful self-made entrepreneur.

    Mr. Azad discussed negativities such as ego, what the people will say etc., that obstruct the path of their growth and objectives in the beginning and the fare of loss and rejection is also a big hurdle in doing a small business. He discussed that successful startups will need to proceed with little before starting with big investments. He advised that students must inculcate some skill among themselves that can benefit others.

    A large number attended the seminar. The event was streamed live on social media for the convenience of maximum students. The healthy question/answer session was conducted in which some students showed up and told that they were already running their businesses and a couple of them were touching million rupees already. The speaker encouraged them a lot and inspired the audience to learn from them as well.

    The Director Campus in his closing remarks endorsed the need of being skillful and useful for society and their own families. He encouraged the students to learn from those who have experience and take calculated risks and start their own businesses. He further affirmed his support for student startups. He thanked the speaker to spare time for the students and appreciated the organization of the students who organized the event. The event ended with a vote of thanks and presented the CUI souvenir to the guest speaker.
